FAQ

Here we are collecting some frequently asked questions regarding the challenge and model creation. If you can’t find the answer to you question here, just reach out to us and we will do our best to help you!

Participation

Who can participate?

Anyone who wants to influence the future of healthcare!

I have no experience of programming, can I still participate?

Yes! The clinical models will be created using editors that translate intuitive dragging and dropping of elements into machine-readable code – so no manual programming is needed.
We have created tutorials on how to use the clinical modeling tools Archetype Designer and GDL2 Editor and there are plenty of information on how to work with GitHub to be found on the Internet. Checkout the Guides and Tutorials to learn more about the modeling tools, and the links provided in the How To section to learn more about working with GitHub.

How many models can I submit?

You are free to submit as many clinical models as you wish! However, there can only be one competition entry per participant. All your models will be assessed and the one that scores the highest will be your entry to the challenge.

When can I sign up?

You can sign up at any time from the registration opening to the end date of the challenge. As long as you have submitted your model before the deadline, you are part of the challenge.

What are the scoring criteria?

The international jury who will assess the submission of your CDS model will take the following aspects into consideration: clinical relevance, guideline description, language (English is mandatory, additional languages are encouraged), design of models, correctness of logic, test coverage of the guideline logic, and complexity of your CDS model. Technical

The GDL2 Editor doesn’t import all archetypes, what should I do?

Sometimes there is a problem with the import the very first time the GDL2 Editor is launched. This is usually solved by re-starting Docker and re-launching the editor.

Do I need any specific operative system?

The GDL2 Editor and Archetype Designer work with any OS. In addition, there are numerous archetypes available both in the gdl-guideline-models repository, and in the openEHR Clinical Knowledge Manager, so participation in the challenge by non-windows users is still very much possible.

Do I have to create a user interface for my model?

No, a user interface will be automatically rendered after your model has been submitted and approved by the CDS team.

Models

I chose a model that did not exist in the repository but someone submitted the same one before me. Can I still submit mine?

No, each model has to be unique. A model is not claimed until it is submitted and approved by the CDS team. All approved models will be merged to the master branch of the gdl-guideline-models repository repository, so make sure to keep an eye on that for any updates.

Is it OK to create another version of a clinical model that already exists in the repository?

Yes! Many clinical models have different variants and versions which are considered to be separate, unique models. Some examples on already existing clinical models that are of different variants are:

  • CRB-65 and CURB-65
  • BSA-Dubois and BSA-Mosteller
  • WHODAS 2.0 12 items and WHODAS 2.0 36 items
